Goodbye, the Windy City!
Two of our roommates left last night and this morning; having a great happy hours with the managers here at Des Plaines; done all the hectic packing and shipping this afternoon myself; and lastly, cooked my last meal at the Pavilion; filmed the last videos at the apartment...all these are just reminding me this is my last day living in Chicago. To be honest, I am definitely coming back to visit the city but it is unlikely that I will be settled here even though I did have a great time with the company, the colleagues and quite some new experiences in Chicago and I like the fabulous city! (well, I am still very sure, NYC is going to be my next stop, before my final settling at the home soil...)Yesterday a colleague of mine said, "You guys must be used to leaving a place..." Indeed, it is YES and NO: yes, the relocating concept is not a news or trouble somehow for me, I managed it; but it is still pretty hard to adjust to the fact that you built up all the "guan xi" with your fellows and finally getting to know more of a city; and then you have to go.
On the other hand though, I still like the fact that my job offers me these great chances of traveling and living in different places - exactly one of the major reason why I decided to join this program from my former great job in China. It is also a great time for me to move on. I feel like after the winter and living in the suburb, I lost a little momentum of my traveling/sightseeing bug. The perfect has come, I will start a new life and explore the West Coast starting tomorrow! There are way too many cities in my mind now, esp. given the fact that I only have an 8-week stay in Los Angeles! Another thing makes me so delighted for the upcoming move is, the fact that May is coming and I will go home in June and LA is just so close to home...afterall, I do miss all those I love and home - the city of Hong Kong. I am glad that I am going to see it again; even though when I get back, I might want to leave for travels again =P
